Universals
Island of Adventure
The “Hottest” Theme Park
In Orlando Florida!

universal-studios-jarrasic-park-ride-orlando

Welcome…to our family adventures exploring Universals Island of Adventure Orlando Florida.

Located right next door to Universal Studios and Universal CityWalk, this theme park we think gives Disney a disadvantage when it comes to thrills and fantastic rides!

Island of Adventure is the place to visit, to experience that rush of adventure, scream your head off, laugh and be amazed at how 'Universal' has put all this together for you to share and have a brilliant day out.

Welcome
To the Island!

"Remember as with all the parks in Orlando we always recommend an early start"

To help you discover the park…here are a few useful tips you might find helpful to get a feel of the place before you arrive…especially if it's your first time. Click on the blue hyperlink of your choice and 'bookmark' if required.

"We find these links very helpful to pre plan and budget for your visit to Universals Island of Adventure"

Arriving at the
Island!

If you are travelling along the I-4 use exits 75A or 75B.

Island of Adventure, Universal Studios and Citywalk are situated near the 'junction' of International Drive and Sand Lake Road, a useful landmark is Wet'n'Wild which is situated on this crossroad.

As with Disney, if you are travelling by car there is an entrance charge to the car parks of $10 dollars (subject to change).

'Free Parking After 6pm'

Sunkissed tip;

The car parking area is quite a walk from The Island of Adventure, so make sure young children and older members of your family use the mobile walkways to ease those legs…mind you after a hard day at the park you will ‘all’ appreciate the mobile walkways on your return to your vehicle.

If you are staying in a resort hotel in Universal, or near by hotels, free transportation is at your disposable, ask at reception of your preferred accommodation.

Entering the
Island

unversal-island-of-adventure-entrance-orlando-florida You will pass through 'CityWalk' and turn left at the lake when the signs tell you. Turn right and you will end up at Universal Studios. Look out for the light house, as this is a good landmark.

So here, we are at the park entrance, after passing through CityWalk, which is pretty quiet in the mornings. Wait until you leave and see how it comes to life with music, lights and that party feeling… 'We love it'

Here's a great site with information about where to hire buggy's (strollers - push chairs) for your children here in Universal Studios if required.

Remember to pick up your park map on the way in, but to give you a start here's a helpful map to help you through this page (print and leave it by the side of your PC).

As you can see from your map, you will notice Universal Island of Adventure is broken up into five main areas to explore, just click on any blue hyperlink for further information with reference to rides, height restrictions and show times etc;

"We found this information very practical in regards to age limits, height restrictions, hints and tips for all the family before we arrived in Orlando"

In addition, we have added our own personal thoughts and views.

  1. Seuss Landing

    suess-landings-universal-studios-orlando

The children…. no we will rephrase this to 'everybody' with the imagination and love of the Dr Seuss children's stories, will have a great time exploring this land, from 'The Cat in The Hat' (a popular and busy ride in the high seasons), 'Caro-Seuss-el', 'If I ran The Zoo' and 'One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish'. This is a great place to start with young children.

  2. The Lost Continent

suess-landings-universal-studios-orlandoThis is an exciting area to explore, from the talking 'Mystic Fountain', great fun if you like been watched by Big Brother, to the fantastic 'Poseidon's Fury', a must see adventure, (this is quite dark in places which some children may be scared).

Also try out 'The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad' show, 'The Flying Unicorn', the young ones will love this ride, and for the thrill seekers 'Duelling Dragons', that's if you have the stomach for it, age limits and height restrictions apply (Not for everyone)

  3. Jurassic Park

jurassic-park-universal-studios-orlandoWe always approach Jurassic from 'Toon Lagoon', after being soaked at 'Dudley-Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls'. With those park gates towering over you and the unforgettable music playing in your ears, you know you are in for a great time.

In the high season, head straight to 'Jurassic River Adventure' if age and height restriction allows and don't forget your photo if your budget allows (see top of page), its well worth it to look back on. Cross the road into 'Camp Jurassic', let the children explore this fun adventure land and take a ride on 'Pteranodon Flyers'.

If you have entered from 'The Lost Continent' we recommend you head straight to the 'Jurassic River Adventure' because this ride is one of the popular ones on the Island of Adventure, and up to 4 hours + waiting lines (queues) are a daily occurrence during the high season.

jurassic-park-universal-studios-island-of-adventure-orlandoDon't forget to visit 'Jurassic Park Discovery Centre' which includes dining, refreshments, shops and restrooms (toilets) upstairs. Downstairs, you will find laboratories, where real dinosaurs are hatched; (honest) an x-ray machine is used on rocks to discover hidden secrets from millions of years ago…great fun.

  4. Toon Lagoon

dudley-do-rights-ripsaw-falls-universal-ioa-orlandoHave loads of fun with Betty Boop and the gang, and enjoy brilliant rides with Universals favourite cartoon characters, from 'Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges', ride the white water rapids of 'Dudley-Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls', this ride is fast at the end so hold on, you will get wet (we promise) and 'Me Ship, The Olive'.

Keep your cameras and videos handy here as the cartoon characters are always walking about.

  5. Marvel Super Hero Island

For the speed freaks and thrill seekers, this heart pumping part of the Island of Adventure is the place to be for fast rides and adventure and the most popular part of the Island.

Therefore if you, your family, friends and relations live for this part of the Island of Adventure, arrive here early to avoid the long lines (queues). 'This place is buzzing in the high season'.

Where do you start, well that's up to you its all brilliant?

hulk-coaster-island-of-adventure-orlando-floridaWe split up here…some go to the 'The Incredible Hulk Coaster' then 'Doctor Doom's Fearfall' the rest of us head towards the 'The Amazing Adventures of Spider-man' this along with the special effects is a fantastic ride 'BUT beware' people with back problems, this ride can throw you around your seat, so take care.

Oh yes we nearly forgot, if any body wants the quiet life here on the Island of Adventure you can always hop onto the ferry and take a leisurely ride around the Lagoon.
