"Remember as with all the parks in Orlando we always recommend an early start" "We find these links very helpful to pre plan and budget for your visit to Kennedy Space Center"How to Find Cape Canaveral.The space center is located due east of Orlando, and easy to find. Three roads will get you there out of Orlando SR528 (formally Beeline Expressway) and SR408/SR50 all roads lead off the I-4, see this helpful map here for directions, stay on these roads for around 30 miles. Turn off the SR528 at the junction for the SR407 and follow the signs for the space coast where you will join the SR405 which will take you to the main entrance of Kennedy, over the Indian River. If you are travelling along the SR50, turn off for the SR405 which again will take you straight to Kennedy's main entrance. Remember their will be a toll charge at the Orlando end of the SR528 around $1 - $1.50 dollars.
Sunkissed tip;
Remember before you travel; check to see if any space launches or returns are due on that day, contact 321-449-4444 (Kennedy Information center) and this will keep you up dated.
On the other hand, check this website before you leave home, to start your holiday or vacation. If you catch a launch that it will be a memory you will keep for life. |
Once you ArriveWhat we like about the Kennedy space center is no charges for the Car parks and Wheelchairs, Strollers and even Pet kennels are free. Make your way to the main entrance where you can purchase your tickets.
What we do is head over to the bus terminal and board for the tour to the Apollo/Saturn V Center, which gives you a guided tour on the way passing the assembly building and Space shuttle areas. In addition, video screens on board the buses keep you informed about where you are during your journey…Watch out for the eagle's nests on the way up to the Center…remember you are in a nature reserve at the same time. When you arrive you will be ushered into a waiting area, and once the doors open head inside. This will take you into the control room of the original moon landing back in 1969, relive the moments when Neil Armstrong stepped foot onto the moon. After this if you have not been to Kennedy before, the next sight to greet you when the doors open will blow you away, a full scale Saturn V rocket is on display.
